Her face lights up as she says: “She who dares, wins”.
Alessandra Moretti wants to inspire community. She believes in the importance of investing in our youth, in filling the early years of a person’s life with learning, positivity and community. Children are the future leaders of our world, our legacy, and we get back what we put in. Alessandra feels it’s her calling, her duty to enrich children’s lives through art. And she’s daring to do it.
For Alessandra, we live in a society that only values art as a hobby; we’ve lost any real consideration for art as a trade – we’re not in the Renaissance anymore! So Alessandra is bringing art back to the basics and encouraging children to create from an early age through her facilitated programs. Her company, Raising Artists, focuses on innovative artistic workshops that are developed, designed and managed by Alessandra to unlock each child’s inherent creativity. And with her help, she believes they will continue to be artists all their lives.
It’s taken a lot of courage, much of it coming from the experience of facing her own fears and seeing herself come out on top. For Alessandra, choosing to tackle the things that frighten her most – the “I can’t do it” mentality – has proven a great success.
Alessandra has definitely been faced with her fair share of “I can’t do it” moments: building your own website is a challenge; running your own business from your basement isn’t easy; and the first years of entrepreneurship mean long hours juggling everything in your life and, often, feeling isolated. Yet Alessandra says that the beginning stages of her company’s growth have been some of the most rewarding years of her life. Watching her company blossom and grow keeps her moving forward and as daring as ever.
Raising Artists took Alessandra into a totally new industry and she still sometimes feels overwhelmed by the experienced competition around her. But she draws strength from seeing the kids who attend her workshops, and who are flourishing in the arts, and from listening to the parents whose own passion has been sparked by her programs.
Alessandra has been greatly encouraged by the incredible support of her family, who have emboldened her to be “she who dares” and who have lent a hand when she needed it. She is also very grateful to the wonderful community of women around her, who have reached out to give advice and who have empowered her by sharing their own passion and expertise. Together, Alessandra has crafted a network of support that feeds her vision and keeps her going during the difficult moments.
If you’re pursuing your passion and hitting a rough patch, Alessandra says: just keep going. You have to do what you love. If you chase after money alone, you’ll never be happy. And she knows from experience, having worked for a long time in an industry that was very lucrative, but left her feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day. In her current job, Alessandra feels luminous after every workshop.
So, go do it! Go build your empire! You only live once and while you’re here why not figure out what you want to do and spend your time inspiring, changing and motivating your community while you do it?
When we do what we love, that love seeps into absolutely everything and everyone around us. And what could be better than that?
